Thoughts about Fair Trade

Because this video comes up onto my screen when I was bored, I’ll talk about fair trade today.

First of all, I don’t actually know what exactly it is. Wikipedia page told me many fancy words, but too difficult for me to read all of it… too much time consuming! (My boyfriend reads Wikipedia just for fun, ended up spending all night reading about war to new type kitten. Silly Wikipedia!)

Anyway, only thing it’s clear to me about fair trading is that fair trades helps people in developing countries. So when I go to shopping, if there is no quality difference between normal branded products and fair trade ones, I'd rather buy fair trade one even though it costs little bit more than others.

Having been to India, I saw actual serious poverty there. People were working for no money for rich people who makes awful amount of money from those business. While my visit, I know many people try to rip as much as money off from tourists, although I felt so bad to haggle with them over the price. They are fighting with life to get 50p more, so they can live for weeks without worry. I think it’s terrible…

So if my tiny shopping helps them to get reasonable paid job, to improve their working environment and life, it doesn't matter that things cost 50p more than normal products. Some people think that's hypocritical attitude, but you know, better than doing nothing, isn't it? (And I'm not harming anyone, am I?)

Very Japanese or not?

I don't think the answer she gave was that bad...

It depends, doesn’t it?
If someone said something obviously wrong (like “you never should say no to your boss even though he is asking you a blow job” or something like that), I think you are likely to refuse to accept and it’s okay.
Although someone was just saying his opinion which was the opposite of your thoughts (like “I think we should promote this to attract more customers”) you can discuss/say what you think, but don’t have to be “against” him.

My opinion is that it is very silly to rely all on the survey answers to decide someone’s personality to hire the person. Because survey questions are usually quite vague, also you can’t judge the most complicated animals on the earth by yes/no questions.

I thought this is very Japanese, don't you think? Everyone has to be the same, have to follow what company (or more likely older people) says. NO EXCEPTIONS.

By the way, I gave up writing about the events happened while I abandoned this blog. TOO BUSY! :( (and it’s already 2010, the most important thing is the future not the past :P)

ooooh, I am bad

Too busy to write the blog at the mo.
need to get myself together!!! :(

Well, well, well...

I am very lazy. That's the fact.

I have abandoned this blog for nearly over a year! How did I manage that??

So many things around me have changed since 2008. I'll itemise some of the big changes.

1. My UK student visa expired
2. Quitting job
3. 4 months enjoy in Japan
4. Working in Japan, Applying visa
5. Dramatic come back to the UK with new visa status
6. Moving back to London
7. Job hunting

Well, quit a lot, eh?
So I'll write about the stories for each topic every day.
(That'll keep this blog in my mind for at least 7 days. Hopefully.)

My aim of writing this blog is now set to improve my English writing skills to create a newblog which I can write about food and cookery.

Oh dear...

I am always too lazy, but I recently work really hard on my English. Hopefully, if I continue I can pass the CAE test by end of this year. I am still not completely confident about my English despite my teacher saying I speak almost fluently.

Specially writing essays and reviews, I am not used to those kind of stuff. The reason of that is I am designer and all I have to do is drawing pictures or making layout for magazines, no need for writing essays with complicated words. It doesn't mean I can't write, just takes so long to form structure.

Anyway, I will try to write this blog more often (as I said in the past).

Saturday night
